Shure’s new premium KSM9 vocal condenser microphone made its European premier at the 2005 Montreux Jazz Festival with an exclusive performance by ten-time Grammy Award winner Bobby McFerrin. The KSM9, Shure’s flagship live performance microphone, represents the ultimate convergence of studio and stage by incorporating innovative technologies to deliver reference audio performance, tremendous versatility and benchmark Shure durability. KSM9, featuring a dual diaphragm design, an industry first for live performance microphones, delivers the nuance and subtlety associated with studio microphones as well as excellent gain-before-feedback and minimal proximity effect for incredibly accurate low frequency response. KSM9 also offers an innovative switchable polar pattern design allowing the microphone to be switched between cardioid and supercardioid response patterns depending on user preferences or the demands of the live environment. And, with its advanced two-stage shock mount technology; KSM9 also stabilises horizontal and vertical movement to significantly reduce handling noise. “I need to be sure that my microphone delivers what I want the audience to hear,” said McFerrin at the Montreux Jazz Festival. “The new Shure microphone does exactly that. It is like crystal-clear water. It feels like you can see right down to the ground. My sound engineer and I couldn’t be happier with it.” Shure will officially present the KSM9 wireless capsule at the 2005 PLASA Show. As a handheld transmitter, the KSM9 capsule will be exclusively available with Shure’s new UHF-R™ Wireless Systems in champagne and black finishes by the end of the year. The capsule will also be available separately as interchangeable cartridge. At the 2005 Montreux Jazz Festival, Shure continued as Official Supplier of Microphones and Wireless Systems. Shure also remained Principal Sponsor of the 3rd Annual Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition.
