Shure Presents UHF-R™ Wireless Systems at the Montreux Jazz Festival 2005

Premier wireless technology offering advanced set-up, monitoring and control capability, unparalleled flexibility and exceptional audio performance

11.09.2005

At this year’s Montreux Jazz Festival, Shure offered a selected group of customers and press the chance to experience the new UHF-R™ Wireless Systems hands-on. UHF-R is the new benchmark for high-performance, networkable wireless applications. Designed for the most demanding wireless applications and users, UHF-R features networked automatic set-up to minimise set-up time and effort, 75 MHz bandwidth for reliable, trouble-free operation, integrated Wireless Workbench® Software for advanced, real-time network control and

Audio Reference Companding technology for exceptional audio quality.

UHF-R Wireless Systems incorporate technologies such as Automatic Frequency Selection, Automatic Transmitter Sync and smart menu-driven system functionality for intuitive and fast set-up. Built in USB and Ethernet ports allow for a networked set-up through group scan and custom group creation.

UHF-R offers 3000 selectable frequencies across an ultra-wide 75 MHz bandwidth providing superior capability to respond to changing or unpredictable RF conditions. Featuring Shure’s Advanced Track Tuning Filtering Technology, which shifts the RF filter along with the selected frequency, UHF-R delivers up to 47 simultaneously compatible systems per band without audio degradation or interference.

UHF-R Wireless Systems come complete with Wireless Workbench® Software, offering a simplified, even faster set-up and provides real time system monitoring and control of all networked devices. Software features include a Frequency Selection Wizard, Frequency Compatibility Calculator Wizard, RF History Plot, Comprehensive Infrared Sync and the creation of Custom Frequency Groups.

UHF-R also employs Shure’s patented Audio Reference Companding, which utilises a variable compression companding scheme to virtually eliminate undesirable RF elements associated with traditional wireless companding techniques. This results in audio with increased dynamic range and lower noise.

System Components All UHF-R components are engineered to withstand the abuses of the road. Each rugged metal UHF-R Wireless Receiver utilises MARCAD® Diversity and provides full AMX/Crestron compatibility, flash memory for storage of six to twelve 60-channel custom frequency groups, 1/4-inch and XLR output connectors, RF Overload LEDs and remoteable ½ wave antennas. Ethernet and USB ports are included. The multi-function, bit-mapped, backlit LC Display shows frequency, group, channel, volume, artist name and all transmitter parameters. Each receiver comes complete with rack-mount hardware.

UHF-R’s handheld transmitters, sporting an all-metal die-cast construction and new ergonomic design, are offered with SM58®, SM86, SM87, Beta 58®, Beta 87A™, Beta 87C™ and new KSM9 capsules. Shure’s new premium KSM9 vocal condenser microphone also received its debut at Montreux.

The compact magnesium bodypack transmitter works with headworn, lavalier and instrument microphones and cables. Its removable antenna provides additional flexibility and a threaded connector securely locks microphone or instrument cables.

Both handheld and bodypack transmitters feature switchable RF power (handheld: 10/50 mW, bodypack: 10/50 mW or 10/100 mW; country dependant), frequency and power lockout, and include 2 ‘AA’ batteries for up to 8 hours continuous use. The multi-function bit-mapped LC displays provide clear access and control for all integral system functions.

UHF-R also offers a complete range of durable, tour-tested accessories, including antenna splitters, amplifiers and directional antennas.

Due to ship in Autumn 2005, UHF-R Wireless Systems are available exclusively from authorised Shure dealers, with its UK launch at the 2005 PLASA Show.
