QSC’s new self-powered; multipurpose HPR122i is perfect for PA or monitor use
22.01.2007
London, January 22, 2007 - Perfect for vocals, DJ, PA, and stage monitor applications QSC's new HPR122i powered loudspeaker offers the professional performance, appearance and ruggedness of high powered plywood enclosures without the associated weight and cost penalties. With an internal amplifier built to the same demanding specifications as QSC’s established power amplifiers, the HPR122i cleanly and effortlessly achieves a maximum output of 131db SPL. The speaker can be pole-mounted using its internal socket or flown with the aid of nine integral M10 suspension points making it ideal for fixed and mobile applications.
Equipped with a 12-inch low frequency driver with three-inch voice coil and neodymium magnet, and 1.4” diaphragm compression driver coupled to a 75-degree conical horn, the HPR122i provides accurate reproduction from 53Hz to 22 kHz.
Unlike some powered loudspeakers incorporating low-cost "chip amps", the HPR122i's proprietary power module incorporates the same circuit designs used on QSC's top-selling RMX Series amplifiers
Thick, deeply-finned aluminium heat sink extrusions offer mechanical strength and an abundance of surface area that promotes cool operating temperatures, even when the loudspeaker is pushed to extremes. Looking beyond its capacity to produce sheer power, the module additionally includes sophisticated signal processing functions that have been mindfully tailored to the loudspeaker system's specific needs: Each amplifier channel, for instance, is equipped with its own limiting within parameters optimized across the operable bandwidth.
Constructed of premium birch plywood, the HPR122i enclosure features a black textured paint finish and 16-gauge perforated steel grille. Ergonomically-placed handles enhance portability, while the cabinet's nine threaded M10 inserts facilitate a wide-ranging number of suspension options. An LED power indicator is mounted on the grille that can be turned off as needed via a rear panel switch.
Measuring 27 inches high by 14.5 inches wide and 15 inches deep, the HPR122i tips the scales at 60 pounds. Now shipping, its estimated street price is £799. You can see QSC's HPR122i at Winter NAMM 2007 in Booth #6750, Hall A of the Anaheim Convention Centre.
