London, February, 2007 - - Shure Distribution UK continues to support Vocaltech in their commitment to the very best standards in education. Distinguished by its 20-year history of turning out some of the most pioneering and successful musicians and vocalists in the business, Vocaltech, along with its sister schools Drumtech, Keyboardtech and Guitar-X, are recognised both nationally and internationally as one of the most dynamic and academically rigorous music schools in the world.

The orange in West Kensington saw the ending of another fantastic year at Tech Music Schools, with students graduating from the 1 year diploma in popular music performance in drum, vocals, guitar and bass. The place was packed with students, friends and family who had turned out to mark the efforts of commitment of all the graduating students.

The event was hosted by Darren Farrugia and Andrew McKinney who did an excellent job in keeping the evening flowing. Ten bands made up of the top performers from Vocaltech, Drumtech, and Guitar-X took the stage with a mixture of covers and original material. The performances perfectly amplified through Shure microphones, were electric but one that stood out in particular was Christine Donald’s ‘Keep Your Money’. It was a sophisticated and very enjoyable performance. Also worth mentioning was ‘So Easy’, another original performance with impressive stage presence and unique vocals from Poppy McCarthy who later went on to win the best live performer award.

Francis Seriau (Director of Drumtech, Vocaltech, and Guitar X) took to the stage dressed as Santa to announce the winners of the awards from each school and hand out the prizes supplied by Shure Distribution UK.

The prize winners were as follows:

Top Overall Student:   Joanne Calvert(bass) ‘super’ Gaz Proctor (guitar) Mark Evans (drums) Christine Donald (vocals)

Best live Performer: Poppy McCarthy (vocals)

Most Improved: Suzi Nelson (vocals), James Sharky (drums)

The lucky winners received the very best in professional audio pa equipment including a Shure Limited edition black Beta 58 kit along with a wireless system.
