A Stairway To Heavenly Sound

Shure kits out Led Zeppelin bassist

London, UK, 16 January 2008 – Led Zeppelin wowed the crowds at their long-awaited reunion concert at the O2 Arena, London on 10 December 2007. The world-renowned band played a two hour set for the first time in nearly thirty years as a tribute to Ahmet Ertegun, the founder of Atlantic Records, who died last year.

Lead singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist-keyboardist John Paul Jones were joined by the late John Bonham's son Jason on drums. Shure Distribution UK contributed to their legendary performance by providing Shure UHF-R wireless equipment for John Paul Jones. Combining more bandwidth, more systems and more control, UHF-R is a premier wireless technology that redefines wireless for the largest, most demanding applications. "The Shure wireless system was just what I needed at the O2. The perfect combination of freedom, quality and reliability. It just works." Commented John Paul Jones, Led Zeppelin. In such a large arena with such unpredictable conditions, a solution that could be trusted was vital. With the Shure UHF-R to back them up, the band performed an exhilarating 16-song set including classics like ‘Stairway to Heaven’, ‘Whole Lotta Love’ and ‘Black Dog’ to a rapturous crowd.

Dennis Harburn, managing director of Shure Distribution UK, who was lucky enough to get a ticket through the lottery commented, “This was the best live gig I’ve ever attended. Led Zeppelin certainly lived up to everyone’s expectations and more with their invigorating onstage show. It was great to be involved in such a momentous event in music history and they proved that they are still able to captivate an audience after all these years.”
