Mapping Out a New Sound with Shure

Shure supports new UK music talent, Maps

London, 17th January 2008 - Shure Distribution UK (SDUK) have selected Maps, the Nationwide Mercury Music awards nominated band to be one of the Shure endorsed bands of 2008. With over 80 years of music heritage, Shure are particularly focused on supporting and investing in new artists during the early stages of their career, allowing them to develop their talent and take their music to the next level.

Maps, aka James Chapman, recorded his impressive debut album using his 16 track recorder in his Northamptonshire bedroom to cut his tunes together rather than use a computer. The resulting album 'We Can Create' was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize in 2007 and since its release in May 2007, has been seen as a critical success.

Electronics are the main sound of Maps songs, with computer-driven sounds preferred over traditional instruments that are typical of the shoegaze style. SDUK will be supporting the band by providing a range of audio equipment including monitor systems, mixers and mics to help Maps make the most of their potential and ensure the best quality of sound.

Adam Bruce, Front of House Engineer said, “Shure has always been seen as the "industry standard" in microphones and they have never let me down in reliability or performance.  The first microphone I could afford was a Shure c606 which I still have today!”

Paul Crognale, Marketing Manager, Shure Distribution UK said, “As Shure has developed from a pro music heritage background, we are always looking to support new bands and we are excited to be supporting the talented Maps. We look forward to seeing how their sound develops and hope they enjoy the success they deserve.”
