A Brooklyn-based, dimple-faced rapper radiating intelligence and wit, Mos Def represented the next step in the evolution of the hip-hop MC, sporting all the skills and credibility of the underground plus an undeniable charisma that pushed his music seamlessly into the mainstream.

With the release of "Universal Magnetic" (1996) Mos became an underground favorite in the hip hop world, leading to his legendary collaboration with Talib Kweli. The two formed Black Star whose debut album, Mos Def and Talib Kweli Are Black Star, would become one of the most critically acclaimed hip-hop albums of its generation.

His debut album appeared on the legendary Rawkus records before signing to Interscope and releasing 'The new danger' in 2004 which received several Grammy nominations.

With two more albums under his belt, countless collaborations (including with The Roots, Madlib, Kanye West and J Dilla) and an acting career  which has seen him appear in the Italian Job and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Mos Def is an in-demand and extremely talented  musician and actor.
