QUOTES

8th July, 2011 London, UK, Shure’s Axient system recently won the ABTT (Association of British Theatre Technicians) award, scooping top honours in the Sound Product of the Year category. In the short time the Axient system has been launched, it has been hailed by many in the industry as a huge step forward in wireless technology throughout all live sound sectors, delivering as-yet unseen levels of performance, reliability and innovation.

Shure’s unique new Axient RF spectrum management system took the top spot at the annual awards show. The ABTT awards ceremony, which took place at London’s Royal Horticultural Halls in Westminster, has become synonymous with recognising new technologies and equipment that “take theatrical staging and engineering to higher levels of creativity and sophistication.”

Axient has been designed to intelligently monitor the RF spectrum landscape and share this between networked devices. It can continuously scan the entire usable UHF spectrum, perform compatible frequency coordination, and monitor, rank and deploy backup frequencies on demand – and all in real time.

Axient Dual Channel Receivers provide alerts when interference strikes and can move to a clear, compatible frequency in milliseconds. Together with Wireless Workbench 6 software, Axient spectrum management tools open up a rich graphical interface for viewing the RF world and choosing the optimal frequencies for all wireless channels on a production.

The judging panel at ABTT commented: “Axient was recognised by the judging panel for its ‘clever frequency management’, as well as its spectral efficiency, allowing large numbers of wireless channels to operate simultaneously in a challenging environment.”

Shure Distribution UK MD Peter James said “The Axient system is the culmination of years of experience in the industry and investment in R&D, producing products that are leading the way in a changing RF landscape. Axient heralds a new level in quality and reliability for wireless systems providing a degree of RF security, stability and control that might previously have seemed impossible.” He added, “The benefits of Axient are particularly obvious at this time of year during the biggest sporting events, festivals and concerts where both sound quality and RF stability cannot be compromised!”
