“Play for L.A.” Competition Terms and Conditions


  1. Shure calls guitarists to participate in a contest.

  3. Participants must post a video of themselves performing to the official Play for L.A. play-along track to the appropriate facebook event wall, as defined above
  4. The participant must post his submission in accordance with the instructions on one of the facebook event pages defined above. Submissions will not be accepted by e-mail or other means not specified on the aforementioned websites.
  5. Only one application per person is permitted. All participants in this competition must be non-professional, i.e are not to be already signed to any major record label.
  6. The closing date for entries is 31st July, 2pm Central European Time (CET).
  7. The competition is open across Europe
  8. The prize can only be rewarded to participants of legal age (> 18 years or any other legal age of majority as determined by the local law where you reside). The winners must be available for at least a minimum of 3 days between 22-25 January 2015 for the trip to California.
  9. Shure reserves the right to reject any entry.


Submitted video & Usage Rights

  1. The entrants represent and warrant that the song and the video submitted is the entrant’s original work. In addition the entrant represents and warrants that the song and the video shall not contain any so called samples and/or other copyright material owned by a third party.
  2. All entrants declare that the songs and the video uploaded are not subject to rights of licensors, management companies (e.g. GEMA – German society for musical performing and mechanical reproduction rights) or other third-parties.
  3. The entrants agree that Shure will forward their contact information in any case of copyright infringement to the infringed party.
  4. No video submitted as part of this competition, should contain sounds or words that could be offensive to the reasonable person on grounds that it discriminates against or is discriminatory to any person or group (whether on grounds of sex, race, religion or other).
  5. Entrants retain right over the submitted pieces of music and film. Shure warrants not using the recording beyond the necessary in connection with the competition.
  6. By entering and submitting a video, all eligible entrants agree to abide by each and all of these general rules, the terms and conditions that govern the competition.


Campaign Mechanism and Prize

  1. The winners will be selected as follows:
    • The entrant’s video must obtain at least 50 likes on Facebook.
    • From this pool Shure chooses one national winner per facebook event
    • The jury’s decision is final and binding on the entrants. No correspondence will be entered into.
    • The winners of the prizes agree that Shure will forward their contact information to, Shure Distribution Centers, and to Shure Distribution BeNeLux, Shure Distribution Germany, Shure Distribution UK or any other Shure entities.
  2. All entries received by 31st July, 2pm Central European Time (CET), having reached at least 50 likes on the appropriate facebook event wall will be judged by Shure.
  3. Approval process of uploaded material may take 2-5 working days (time between completed upload and actual publishing)
  4. The prize for each of the four national winners consists of the following:
    • One Shure Beta Digital Wireless system for guitarists and bassists
    • A trip to Los Angeles including flight, accommodation and tickets for the 2015 NAMM Show
    • A Fender 60th Anniversary Commemorative Stratocaster
    • The prize can only be awarded as a whole.
  5. No cash-payment of the prices is possible.
  6. The winners will be announced on the appropriate Facebook event wall in August 2014 and all reasonable endeavors will be made to contact the winners during the following 10 days. If a winner cannot be contacted before this time, Shure reserves the right to select the entrant whose entry the judging panel consider to be next best.
  7. Shure reserves the right, with or without cause, to exclude entrants and withhold prizes for violating any terms and conditions. Shure reserves the right to amend these general rules. Any amendments will be published on the Facebook event page.
  8. Uses of personal data received by Shure in the course of the competition are subject to the privacy policy found on the website. The winner’s(‘) names may be published on the websites.
  9. Shure reserves the right at any time to cancel, modify or supersede the competition (including altering prizes) if the competition is not capable of being conducted as specified.
  10. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.
  11. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall be struck out and the remaining provisions shall be enforced.
  12. By entering the competition all entrants are deemed to have accepted and be bound by these General Rules.
  13. The Shure Guitar Competition “Play for LA” is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook.
  14. By entering the campaign you agree to the terms and conditions as well as the guidelines of Facebook in particular but not limited to image and personal rights as well as privacy.
